Romantic Mountain Side Wedding at The Chanterelle | Thunder Bay Wedding Photography

As a luxury wedding photographer based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, I have the privilege of capturing so many unique and emotional love stories—but Holly and Donald’s wedding was something truly magical.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Nor'Wester Mountains, Holly and Donald said “I do” in an open field behind the Best Western Plus NorWester Hotel & Conference Centre. The landscape alone was stunning, but paired with their romantic Beauty and the Beast-inspired décor, the whole day felt like a fairytale brought to life.

From the very beginning, Holly and Donald were an absolute joy to work with. They are one of the most down-to-earth and relaxed couples I’ve ever met—focused on love, family, and making sure everyone had the best time.

The day began with a first look in the field, surrounded by soft breezes and the majestic mountains in the distance. It was such an emotional and calming moment before the festivities began. We captured their bridal portraits and wedding party photos ahead of the ceremony, which gave them the perfect opportunity to enjoy a few quiet moments and soak it all in.

Their ceremony was intimate and beautiful, framed by vivid colors, fresh blooms, and of course, the incredible northern Ontario landscape. After the ceremony, they took a well-deserved break before making their grand entrances into a jaw-droppingly beautiful reception space.

The reception, styled and decorated by State & Co., was a perfect reflection of their theme—elegant, whimsical, and full of gold, red, and enchanted details. Holly looked absolutely radiant in her gown from Irma’s Bridal, a local Thunder Bay favorite for timeless wedding fashion.

And then—the speeches. Every word spoken by family and friends was full of love, admiration, and emotion. It was clear that Holly and Donald are deeply cherished by those around them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, and more than once, I caught myself smiling behind the camera.

It’s weddings like these that remind me why I do what I do.
