As a destination wedding photographer based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, I have the incredible privilege of traveling with couples to some of the most breathtaking locations—and Tonya and Dan’s wedding at the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites in Riviera Maya, Mexico was nothing short of magical.

Their special day, January 30, 2025, was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. It all began in the bridal suite at the Iberostar salon, where Tonya was surrounded by her closest friends—and her beautiful daughter, Brynn. The energy in the room was electric: laughter echoed off the walls, champagne glasses clinked, and happy tears were already flowing as the excitement built for what was to come.

Before the ceremony, we made our way to a stunning tropical spot on the property for Tonya and Dan’s first look. It was an emotional moment that gave them a quiet pause to soak in the significance of the day. Then came Dan’s first look with his daughter—another deeply moving moment that reminded us all of the love not only between a couple, but within a family.

With the gorgeous Riviera Maya scenery as our backdrop, we captured portraits of the full wedding party ahead of the ceremony. This gave Tonya and Dan the freedom to truly relax and enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests—something I always encourage for couples planning destination weddings!

The ceremony took place in the lush garden area of the Iberostar Maya Suites, surrounded by tropical greenery and the soft sounds of nature. Tonya and Dan included a beautiful sand ceremony to symbolize the joining of their lives and families—a tradition that added even more meaning to an already emotional day.

After the ceremony, the celebration kicked off with a cocktail hour filled with laughter, hugs, and joyful reunions. We captured fun and candid moments with their guests before heading to the beach for some truly epic sunset photos. The sky was dramatic, the waves were wild, and the wind added such a natural, romantic movement to every frame. And in a beautiful twist of fate, while we were photographing Tonya and Dan, another couple nearby got engaged—talk about love in the air!

As the sun set, the celebration continued with a grand entrance into their reception, where an elaborate buffet dinner awaited. The energy was high, the food was incredible, and once the dance floor opened, it was non-stop fun. Their family and friends did not hold back—everyone was up dancing, singing, and celebrating well into the night.

To wrap up the evening, Tonya and Dan did a romantic sparkler exit followed by a cake cutting that had everyone cheering. It was the perfect end to a perfect day in paradise.
